Carpentry ignites my passion with each crafted piece.

Welcome to Greencastle Carpentry! Israel is a carpenter with over 15 years experience, having worked in Montreal, Burgundy, and now Toronto. After graduating from school in 2007, a career opportunity took him across the globe to Guedelon Castle in France where he worked on creating the roof of the great hall using medieval techniques. With a passion for traditional carpentry work, he returned to Quebec and began doing ancestral house restorations.

Israel became a licensed journeyman in 2013 and continued to sharpen his craft doing major renovations, as well as becoming the

lead carpenter responsible for execution of design at multiple successful resto-bars in Montreal – MTL Bar, La Grenade, and Le Baron Samedi, most notably. Being someone who enjoys a challenge and strives for a well-rounded skill set, his next career move was to join IATSE building movie sets, which has led him here to Toronto. Over the last 5 years, he has worked on Handmaid’s Tale, The Lost Symbol, and The Rabbit Hole, to name a few.

Clients and co-workers would describe Israel as hard-working, dedicated to his craft, friendly, punctual and a bit of a perfectionist (ok, a lot!). He excels in framing, staircases, traditional carpentry, fences, decks, backyard renos and finishing work, but truly any woodwork is a joy for him to approach and figure out. His attention to detail and commitment to using the best materials ensures that every project he undertakes is built to last and be beautiful. Israel takes the time to listen to his clients’ visions and collaborate with them through the process. His goal is to exceed expectations and bring your vision to life!
